With business declining, Mr. Nam, the owner of a grocery store, sought out the God of Wealth and the Earth God to pray for good fortune and a change in his business. However, instead of sincerely offering his prayers, he resorted to various ways to save on offerings: from bruised apples and plastic chickens to fruit platters glued together with super glue.

These increasingly blatant acts of deception angered the two gods, who repeatedly inflicted bizarre and comical punishments on Mr. Nam. After a memorable experience of “karma,” Mr. Nam finally realized that good fortune doesn’t come from dishonesty, but from sincerity and honesty.
